Recreation Commission

Mission:  The mission statement of the Pendleton County Recreation Commission is to provide an array of recreational activities to the youth and adults within the community. Programs are designed to meet participant needs for physical activity, social interaction, fun, and skill development.

Baseball – this program is available to children 5 years old through the age of 13. Age is based upon the age as of date of August 1st of each year. This program is held throughout the week and on weekends at the fields located at Northern Elementary and the Pendleton Athletic Park in Falmouth. The divisions are t-ball, potato league, minor league, and little league. The Registration Form is available in mid-February.

Basketball – this program is available to children that are entering 2nd grade through 12th grade. This program is held during the week and on the weekends at Northern Elementary, Southern Elementary, and Phillip Sharp Middle School. The divisions are 2nd & 3rd grade elementary instructional league, 4th & 5th grade, (4th & 5th grade form) boys & girl’s teams, 6-7-8 middle school intramurals, and high school intramurals. Registration forms are available mid-October.

Cheerleading – the Pendleton County Recreation Youth Cheerleading program is for participants that are in grades 1st through 6th. Each participant is required to have an updated physical on file with Pendleton County Recreation before they will be able to participate in the program. 

Football - The Pendleton County Recreation Youth Football program is for participants that are in grades 1st through 6th grade. Practices are held 3 nights per week at the Athletic Park with teams traveling to surrounding counties to play games. Each participant is required to have an updated physical on file with Pendleton County Recreation before they will be able to participate in the program. Each participant is required per league rules to complete 10 practices before they will be allowed to play in a game.

Soccer – this program is available to children 4 years old through the 8th grade. This program is held on Saturday mornings at the Pendleton Athletic Park in Falmouth. The divisions are pre-k boys & girls, 1st & 2nd grade boys & girls, 3rd & 4th grade boys & girls, and 5th-8th grade boys & girls. The Soccer registration form is available around the middle of May.

Summer Recreation Program – this program is available to children that are entering Kindergarten through the 8th grade. This program is held during the month of June at Southern Elementary. The days are filled with crafts, field trips, guest speakers, and swimming at Kincaid State Park.

Elementary Volleyball (6 week) Instructional Program - this program is for girls in the 3-4-5-6 & 7 grades. This program is held at the Phillip Sharp Middle School. A registration form is available in mid-February.


Participation Fees

Each participant must pay the $50.00 registration fee to participate in the programs listed above. The fee must be paid at the time of registration. A late fee of $15.00 will be added after the registration deadline. All fees must be paid, including late fees, for a participant to be placed on a team roster. If a family has 3 or more children participating, the total fee will be $125.00.


An additional fee of $20.00 will be added to a participant’s registration fee if he/she chooses to switch teams once the uniform order has been placed.


The Summer Recreation program daily fees are $10.00 per day plus a $20.00 registration/materials fees. The daily fee includes breakfast and lunch and snacks during the day. Planned field trips such as swimming at Kincaid are extra.

Facilities
  • Pendleton Athletic Park is a 22 acre facility located in Falmouth, Kentucky. The complex consists of (2) soccer/football fields, (4) softball/baseball fields, (4) tennis courts, (2) sand volleyball courts, (1) croquet court, a full service concession stand, a (1) mile nature trail located along the Licking River, and a handicap accessible walking trail. This complex is available to anyone wishing to schedule an event. All events must be scheduled through Pendleton Co. Recreation at 859-654-5800.

  • The Pendleton County Fairgrounds are also available to schedule for different events. This facility includes a horse ring, a truck/tractor pulling track, and the Griffin Center (which is a 1200 seat covered amphitheatre), two (2) softball/baseball fields and an exibit hall (which may be scheduled for company picnics, receptions and family renions).

  • The Griffin Fitness Center is located at the Pendleton Co. High School and is open Monday through Friday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. for public memberships. This facility offers (4) treadmills, (2) ellipticals, (3) bicycles, (1) air bike, (1) stepper, (1) row machine, free weights, and a variety of cable machines. Membership rates: 1-month, $20.00, 3-months, $54.00, 6-months, $90.00, and a 1-year membership, $150.00.
  • Reserving The Above Facilities, all reservations for the above facilities must be scheduled through the Pendleton County Recreation at 859-654-5800.

Meetings
Meeting date is the 1st Thursday of the month at 6:30 in the Falmouth School Center room 210, subject to any special called meeting or cancellation.
